New Job, New City!
Hello everyone!
I have some very exciting news to share with yall - I’m starting a new job and moving to a new city in Colorado!!
I know I haven’t written in a while but this is such a big update that I wanted to blog about it. I really can’t believe how fast everything’s happened - in just under a month I signed the offer, gave two weeks’ notice, and now I’m planning my cross-country move. My new role is an iOS engineer position but I’ll be doing feature work which I’m very excited about since it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while now.
Now that I’m filling suitcases and boxes up with my belongings, I’m reflecting on previous moves - moving to Scotland has been my biggest so far and I remember all the anxiety and excitement that came with heading off to uni in a new country. The truth is that I’ve always been a “homebody” - I enjoy staying at home and spending time with family and it was a big leap for me to head to Scotland alone. But I know myself well enough to know that I have to push myself to grow, even when it’s nerve-wracking and scary. Some of the best experiences I’ve had came from challenging myself to do something new and frankly a little terrifying. So here we are, T- about 2 weeks from the move and starting a new job!
Back in December I made a roadmap in my passion planner of what I wanted my life to look like in 3 months. Under the overarching goal I wrote “move to Colorado, start a new job - feel excited, challenged, and fulfilled in my work.” I’m not typically a person who writes roadmaps or plans life this way but I have to admit that it feels amazing to look back at the page and see that I accomplished that goal I set for myself. It’s crazy to think that I graduated, started my 1st job, and am now moving on to my 2nd during this pandemic. I know that it’ll be overwhelming going from the relative isolation of Vermont to living in a busy city but I’m excited for the change of pace.
I’ve also been filming a moving vlog that will be up on SisterCodes sometime soon! I really want to document the moving chaos and I think it’ll be fun to look back on once I’m all settled. Make sure you’re subscribed to our channel so you don’t miss that! I’m also planning on writing a reflection post here each month so if you want to stay up-to-date, follow me on Instagram @ashhcodes. I know this was a shorter one but I’m really looking forward to writing more blog posts in the future and can’t wait to share more about this new chapter in my life!
